I need to buy a barrel, choke(s), and choose a load for my 870. What are your suggestions for each? I have a great place to pattern my gun once I get a setup going and a few loads to try.

You gonna shoot hevi or lead shot? I'd go with a Rhino choke tube for hevi shot and a Kicks for lead. You'll just have to try a couple different brands of shells to see what your gun likes best. Federal, Winchester, Remington all make a turkey load that should fit your needs. hw

Talk to your buddies that turkey hunt, so can try a bunch of different loads without buying a whole box of shells, also the same can be said for chokes borrow your buddie's to see which combo is right for your gun. It will take a while, but finding the right gun, choke, load combo for YOUR gun is very important.

hey jajwrigh, you might want to think about a barrel with a vent-rib. i like to add clamp on tru -glo or hiv-viz fiber optic, very high visable when that big gobbler struts-in, also i recommend the ones that are adjustable for windage and elevation. www.hivizsights.com good luck turkey scout

My set up right now is a Rem. 870 with a xxx full compnchoke with 3 inch Hevi 13 #6 shot. Two birds last year one at 40 yds and one at 48 yds. This combination has worked real well for me. I am interested in trying out the new x tended range Winchester loads as well. Gobbleking

If you can make it to Nashville for the NWTF convention that would be great place to buy chokes at a discount price plus talk to the Reminton factory reps.

What barrel lengths should I consider? I see the trend of the shorter barrels from the factory..
