Sure....any time a hunter goes into the woods, thousands of deers run out on to the highways. I'm sure I'm to blame for many of the toll road crashes since it's only a few miles from my hunting ground!!! I can't believe they didn't talk about overall deer populations where the incident of crashes are on the rise. Just more misleading stories!

Not a word was said about crops being harvested during this time of the year either.

very much a swayed report.................... hunting causing the deer to move thus causing accidents ? i would really like to know how that guy driving during the interview came up with that theory ?? (better send him off to another learning seminar ?) most "deer crossing" signs are placed in an area when X amount of vehicle collisions occur. thats not "pressure"............but rather an established travel route ! bottom line.............its real simple................drive with caution ! (especially during a known "active" time ?) unfortuneatly we as a whole tend to forget that when you put yourself in a couple of tons of metal and plastic traveling at a high velocity..............that tragic things occur. whether its careless driving, foul weather, or what ever life throws our way !!! (but i dont forsee too many "giving up" their vehicles any time soon !) classic case of what happens when man incorporates too much technology in what should be a simple life ! camoham

What they never said was anything about the millions of deer killed every year by hunters thus removing a lot of potential accidents.

Very misleading.
Showing bird hunters with dogs when it was talking about specail deer seasons....typical

I have a little input on this one. I live very close to Eagle Creek Reservoir in Marion County. This is a city park loaded with deer. I have been driving by this park everyday since June and haven't even come close to hammering a whitetail. People are religiously running through this park everyday. In the last week I have come very close to plowing over a 160-class ten point and two does with my truck in two separate occasions. Why are these animals going crazy right now? The RUT! They are not being forced out of that woods due to human activity! They see that every day. It is truly unbelievable the amount of deer located in that park. Going to be a major problem someday. Traveling to Orange county about 3 weeks ago for a weekend of bowhunting I spotted 3 dead coyotes on the side of the state road 37. What caused these animals to get hit? Cooler weather or maybe looking for food in a different area? Who knows, but the only good coyote is a dead one.

Well just imagine the icrease number of collisions if deer hunting was stopped for a couple of years. Heck you could not go anywhere with hitting one.
Yes they are correct urban sprawl is one factor. You have more and more habitat reduced every year to a species whoses population is ever increasing every year to a point where even hunting is not a effective in reducing these populations.

Well I live next to Eagle Creek in Indianapolis ... 2 years ago I hit a nice 8 Point buck with my Mini Van. 21st and High School Rd. The deer came up off of Eagle Creek onto 21st Street. $3,500 in damage. So when I go hunting .. it personal Really that was what got me hunting again. I haven't hunted in over 10 years ... was in the Army and when I came to Indiana I couldn't use my Rifles So I didn't bother with hunting for awhile. After hitting the deer I began to think about what I tell Anti-hunters .... Hunter fill a void in nature. We are the predators now. I hunt because I enjoy it and I hunt to pass it onto my Son (taking him Rabbit Hunting Soon). I hunt so my Son's Son can hunt.

I'm not surprised in the least. It was the liberal media after all......and the Communist (or Clinton, your pick) News Network on top of it. I'll stick to Fox News. CNN doesnt' deserve my time.

It is certainly no place to live if you enjoy hunting.

In the last presidential election I scanned the band watching all news sites. It became REAL apparent who CNN was pulling for.
They would not call Ohio for Bush even though they had the very same data as the other news sites. After the fact I found out that the Democrat headquarters called them as soon as Fox called Ohio for Bush and told CNN NOT to call it yet as it was still up in the air. CNN believed the democrats instead of the data at hand.
Wolf Blitzer did a stammering act and they even put up Ohio as a totally different color on the board than any other state.
They have NIL credibility with me.

CNN definitely has an agenda. Most people don't give deer a whole lot of thought, so it seems intuitive to them that the deer would naturally run far, far away from danger. Most people don't realize that a deer's primary escape tactic is to run a short distance and hide.
