yeah in Kentuckly when you shoot a deer or turkey you call and get a confirmation number, write it on the back of your license and you're good...If you suspect someone didn;t check their deer in, you go on the internet and you can check to see if the neighbor is checking deer in....if not, report him..Telecheck is a great thing!...
also you would not be required to have a tag for the butcher/processor, just give him the confirmation number on the back of license and you're good to go..We can't worry about the criminals who break laws the Game Warden needs to deal with them people regardless....A Criminal/Poacher could care less about any laws on the books...the same ones who don't buy a tag now, and poach deer will never change unless they're caught and punished. That's why we have Game Wardens to Enforce laws...

a deer will keep a long time in 60-70 degree weather if hung with the hide in tact and chest cavity packed with ice. I could see this buying several hours or overnight. I would never do it for 24 hours as it sures seems like this would breed bacteria.

I do not have a problem with telecheck. I do have a problem with my name and address being published for everyone to see. I have nothing to hide but why should it be public info?

Your name is the only thing that shows up.

I like the Illinois telecheck via the internet. Easy and even I can do it. They do require a couple measurments on your deer if it is a buck . IIRC - it is a MM measurement from the corner of the eye to the nose and around the base of the antler. You also have to state how many points. For a doe it is the eye to nose measurement. That should give the biologists some information.

I like the Illinois telecheck via the internet. Easy and even I can do it. Tennessee has that too. It is great. Probably even better than telecheck...but not everyone has internet so I guess you would need both options.

If we do go to telecheck, I will miss the little metal tags that we get now. I have a nice collection of those.

I have never seen one of those little metal tags again after it has went to the processor. Come to think about it my processor is my check station. Where I hunt at down at Fairbanks service is iffy. Mostly no. So I will keep my paper tag until I get someplace with service or my processor if they are still a check station, which will probably be the same place for either.

Telecheck is by far the best way to not encumber a hunter or keep them from taking and process the deer they want to shoot in the middle of the week especially , when its hot and they have to go to work the next day. I do not know how many meat deer I have let walk right on by me because it was hot and the middle of the week and I knew that the check station would be closed before I could get to it .
Besides I am about to strike a nerve on some guys that just feel that they need to have their nose in others business all the time . The reason several hunters / people do not want telecheck is simply they are nosy and just have to see what others shoot so they can either comp-lain about it or talk smack about the hunter because the buck is bigger than any that they have taken .
Quite frankly the removal of the old system will halp combat this type behavior because what these jelouse or synical types don't see can't be talked about can it now and maybe just maybe these shop rats that run from station to station just to see what is killed will hunt instead of worring about what others are hunting!!
JMHO on telecheck it can not get here fast enough for me.

I feel that the telecheck does have many advantages, especially in early season and on Sundays. And yes, a poacher is a poacher no matter what system they are cheating. But I am a check station and I do go out to take a look at all deer checked in at my shop. For one, I just like to see all the trophys being brought in and I also take pics of the animals and I hang em up on the walls and ceiling. It's just kind of our "thing" to have the pics of all the successful hunts and a lot of customers just like looking at them. So either system is good for me. But also as a check station I realized the need to have a check open late and on Sundays. We never turn a hunter away, I've checked deer in at 11:30pm with no complaints.

The problem with Check-in Stations is that many go out of Business and no other Businesses in the area want to fool around with checking in Deer. Telecheck eliminates this making it MUCH easier to check-in a Deer were the Hunter is given a confirmation number he can take to the processer to show the Deer was checked in. True many Deer aren't checked in usually by poachers which would never use the system of either.

my opinion is that once they go to the telecheck system ALL HONEST HUNTERS will like it better than the check stations. i live and hunt in ky and ind and prefer the check in by phone.it takes about 2 minutes of your time compared to having to go to a check station where have the time they dont even come out and look at your deer. yes there will be people who abuse telecheck, but if they are too lazy to pick up the phone to check a deer in then why would they drive an hour to check one in. there are poachers now, there will be poachers with telecheck and there will be poachers with any other method that they may come up with. dont knock it till you try, i think everyone will like it.

On year while I was living in Indiana; I took my Deer to a local "Check-in Station" and had to wait 45 minutes because the Guy, who did that, wasn't in yet. The Woman at the store refused to look at a dead Deer!!

I am looking forward to telecheck. The drive to the check station isn't the trouble for me... it's the getting the deer out of the tree, the waiting in line at the check station, and the rehanging it in the tree.
I keep swearing that I am gonna buy a walk in cooler salvage one of these days...

I like Telechek, but it will increase non-compliance quiet a bit. But overall, it's a better system for biologists and deer managers.
