I have 3 hens that show up in my yard every day. They always have 9 poults with them. Well they did up until the last two days. Is it time for the hens to seperate from the poults this early?
I am watching the hens feed in my yard right now but no young ones to be seen...........

IMO typically hens and poults would stay together for the winter, though jakes might go out on their own. I would expect the jennys to stay with mom.

Saw a bunch of hens the other day, and the poults were still with them. Hope the varmints didn't get them either.

I like to put out feeders at the end of deer season for the deer and turkeys and take my video and digital camera and sit all day a watch the feeder from about 10 yds. It is great last year had 25 full beard gobblers there and two yearlings came and they had a little fight for food. Wish that I had could afford a better blind that did not shake when the wind blew. But this year I hunted from a old blind that I had never used and had it out for two months but no feeder and some turkey came right by and the wind was howling and blind shaking and they paid not attention to it. The blind is still out and getting ready to set up a feeder in a few weeks. I usually set up three and some gravity feeders around out 600 acre farm and set up a few digital camera's to take some pictures. I also have from last year a bearded hen with the rest of the hens. Camera hunting is also fun at the end of the year and shed hunting. Steady
