Several weeks ago on this board I posted a story of a goose hunt with my old friend and I stated we killed 10 geese that day and 6 of those were banded. Two days later we repeated the same hunt taking another 10 and of those 3 were banded. Today we received our band info and 8 of those bands were from areas around Indiana however the one band that I mentioned which was old and worn almost in two was unique. The bird was a female banded as an adult she was banded in the Horicon marsh in 1996 making her at least 16 years old when I took this bird. I feel sad when I think how many miles she flew, how many eggs she had laid and how many guns she had avoided till I ended it.

Horicon is a great place to hunt. That's a old lady you got.
