WINCHESTER MODEL 9410 PACKER www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/historic-detail.asp?family=006C&mid=514007 my wife got me one of these used . ain't she sweet !!! ;D mine doesn't have the screw in chokes. from what i've read it's a cylinder bore ? is this safe to shoot slugs through ? it's a sweet gun and i think she got a great deal at $500 ! wonder what i'll get for my birthday ? may have to have her look at some AR's ;D

You can shoot slugs in ALMOST any choke, but I wouldn't think shooting them out of a fyll choke would be condusive to good accuracy. For the three most common chokes they go in order from least restrictive, to most restrictive in this order: Cylinder, Modified, Full, so ya, you can shoot slugs through it. You're a lucky guy BTW!

Actually IC is inbetween cylinder and modified (not counting the specialties like skeet etc). I tried slugs through a full choke 410 it was not accurate at all.

Once upon a time I had a sweet Browning auto five in 20 ga. It had a modified barrel that would shoot slugs with more than acceptable accuracy. Shotguns are very individualistic when it comes to slug shooting- at least that's been my experience.

Yes, you can fire slugs through the cylinder bore.
