...unless it is ...
Roadside Diner Venison Cheeseburger Quiche
Prep: 20 Minutes Bake: 50 minutes + standing
Yields: 8 Servings
Ingredients:
1 sheet refrigerated pie pastry
2 tsp. Prepared mustard
¾ to 1 pound ground venison
1 tsp. Hot pepper sauce
2 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
½ tsp. salt
1 medium onion chopped
¼ tsp. Pepper
½ cup dill pickle relish
1-1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup crumbled cooked bacon or bacon bits 1-1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese 1 cup heavy whipping cream
5 eggs
½ cup 2% milk
Unroll pastry into a 9” deep-dish pie plate; flute edges and set aside. In large skillet, cook beef over a medium heat until no longer pink; drain, stir in the tomatoes, onion, relish and bacon. Transfer to prepared pastry.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, cream, milk, mustard, pepper sauce, salt and pepper. Pour over meat mixture. Sprinkle with cheeses.
Bake at 375 degrees. For 50 – 60 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Cover edges with foil during the last 15 minutes to prevent over browning if necessary. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting. Garnish with optional ingredients if desired.
OPTIONAL GARNISHES
mayonnaise, additional pickle relish, crumbled cooked bacon, and chopped onion and tomato.

We made your quiche today and it was good. Maybe next time I might try a little less pickle relish and a little more bacon.

We ate the leftovers for supper tonight and to spike it a lil I added some horseradish to it. Now that will put some lead in your pencil.

I don't see horseradish on the list of OPTIONAL GARNISHESmayonnaise, additional pickle relish, crumbled cooked bacon, and chopped onion and tomato. I'll bet that did spice it up a tad..
