Not many geese around the areas I hunt this year. I think the weather hurt, never had a good warm up to bring 'em back. I did manage 4, with 2 more bands. That made 7 bands for the year. Both of the birds I shot this morning were banded on 7-24-2006 in Ontario. The biologists when I checked inmy birds said both banded birds were females. Until next season...

Nice Birds. The weather was not the best this season. I did better in Sept. when it was hot out.

I had a blast. We got birds everytime out just not very many of them. It's tough hunting when they've been pounded since Sept. Our regular season was only out for a weekend before begining again. I had the same experience last year, basicall had to work lots of birds and make it count when they were in the decoys.
Don't forget to mail in your surveys! Time to repair and relax! Got a dr. appointment for a bum arm I've been putting off until after season...man that's dumb/numb whatever! I am ready to go fishing.

After the very poor regular waterfowl season our late goose season was great. My hunting buddy and I took 33 birds and recovered 9 bands. Whats funny is less than 48 hours since the closing of the season and my marsh is got approx. 175 birds sitting on it. Ditto DUFFS comments about the survey sheets.

I got 5 birds in the late season, including my first band (my hunting buddy took another 6 birds). I'm still new to waterfowling, so considering my experience level, and the time I was able to put into it, I considered it a success. The cold snowy weather helped me, but I'm a different situation than most. I and am set up close to a WWTP. Over the two weeks I watched hundreds of birds come and go from different directions that I couldn't get to - and I saw more ducks than geese!
The band was tagged in june of 2007 in Indiana. So much for a migratory bird!

Good job 36, the feb season is for locals so the one you shot is the ones the state and feds want us to kill.
