Buster-unless BOAH has drastically changed their way of tracking and reporting feral hogs in the last year, contacting them will be a complete waste of time.
I contacted them in early '08 trying to get any available info on feral hogs. After MULTIPLE calls over MULTIPLE days and getting put on hold or getting switched off to someone else I was given some info which basically told me what counties might have feral hogs. They could not give me dates, times, headcount or anything that might have been of any use for trying to locate where these destructive feral pests actually are. Here is what they sent me:
Mr. Felix
Feral hogs have been spotted in the following Indiana counties:
Lawrence
Jackson
Washington
Warrick
Gibson
Union
Greene
Jennings
Orange
Paula K. Livers
Swine Health Program Coordinator
Indiana State Board of Animal Health

At least Michigan knows how to keep track of feral hogs-they will give you not only date, time and how many were spotted/killed but will also give the nearest major road coordinate! All this while most maps of feral hog populations in the US dont' even have Michigan listed as having feral hogs!!!
Why can't we be doing the same thing? But I guess that would be admitting we have a problem and letting a multitude of hunters try to help take care of them rather than trying to quitely let Wildlife Services try to take care of them-another way to spend our tax dollars instead of us spending to hunt them Yes I've talked to Joe Caudell...
