My all BCM KISS middieTranslate that for me Hux! Say, is that a Tapco mag? BCM = Bravo Co. Mfg. A small shop that builds small quantities of the highest quality AR-15 and M-16 components available. Middie = mid-length gas system ( 9" gas tube) as opposed to a carbine length ( 7" gas tube) KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid. In AR speak, a basic no - frills weapon sporting standard handguards and iron sights. Not Tapco, it's a Magpul.

Ah, basic. I like it.
Does the nine inch tube help with reliability?

Ah, basic. I like it. Does the nine inch tube help with reliability? It slows down dwell time slightly and supposedly relieves a little stress on the bolt. Some say it softens recoil, but i can't tell any difference. The biggest advantage IMO, is that it pushes the front site two inches farther out on the barrel, offering a longer sight plane with irons.

I'm a big fan of the middy, and a big fan of BCM! Yeah, I can't tell any difference between my middy and my buddy's carbine, as far as recoil is concerned... Yeah, the middy-carbine difference is the pressures and forces... The middy has more gas tube to build pressure in, so the pressure that shoves the bolt back is lower pressure and longer duration (and the pressure spike isn't as high), which is easier on all parts in the BCG (bolt-carrier group)...
