After a very lackluster season today was well earned,it went like this. My friend arrived at my house at 7:30 we loaded our gear in the mule and rode out to the pond.We chased about 150 geese off the water and set out our decoys. We got into the blind and in less then 2 min the first pair returned,2 shots 2 dead geese both are banded. 20 min later another goose sets in 1 shot another banded goose. Another 20 Min's later a flock of about 15 set in 6 shots 5 dead geese. I got the triple and there are another 2 banded geese in the blind. A little while later we are remembering our 38 years of hunting and all the good times we have shared when without a warning another 6 geese drop in,we each fire 1 shot and we are done.Oh I forgot another banded goose. 10 geese 6 bands one of the bands is so old it is nearly worn in two. 2 of the bands are consecutively numbered. Now my friend and I have been hunting together so long that the children we carried on our backs out to a blind are now carrying our grand children and in a few more years the grand children will be carrying our great grand children. We never argue about who killed what or who got what band we just enjoy the day. Oh and by the way we don't wear our bands we just throw them in a cigar box after we call them in.
