I have killed several in the snow by sneeking up on them, including a couple of decent bucks. Its one of my favorite ways to hunt.

Sure you can if the wind is right. I do it a lot. Well, not A lot, but I still hunt a lot, and I kill a few deer like that too. Not only in the snow either, but anytime.
I am best at it when it's raining a little. Or has been so the floor of the woods is quiet, and there is a little breeze for cover noise.
Play the wind, and sneak into places you know hold deer. Use the cover to your advantage. Go SLOW. Sometimes it takes me an hour or more to cover 100 yards if I think there are deer close. When you do move, move slow, and look for deer everywhere before moving on. Especially look for horizontal lines of bedded deer. Usually what happens for me is one will move somewhere... and THAT'S how I see them.
90% of the deer I see like this see me first... maybe more... but the law of big numbers means I'll see o few of THEM 1st, and get some shots.
For me, there is NOTHING as fun as sneaking up on a deer in HIS house!

I like to look for those small patches of corn in the middle of a field a farmer did not pick because it was to muddy.Wait till high noon and come in from the down wind side.
