I've posted a note to Woody, he sent me to JackC99...now I'm posting it to the masses... Any suggestions, or direction someone can give me, I'm listenin'. I (and my kids) would like to get started small game/bird/waterfowl hunting and I'm not sure how to get started? What equipment? Where to go? All the usual 'rookie' questions here. I have two kids D-17 and S-16 who both like the outdoors, and would like to get more involved in hunting and camping. We fish now, but have not done any shooting other than at Indiana Gun Club on a Saturday afternoon to break some clays. We live in central Indiana (Fishers, IN) in Hamilton County. I would buy the coffee if anyone would like to meet and chat about getting me started. Mike Myers Fishers, IN bushhog2@sbcglobal.net

Mike, Just something to think about-both 4-H and Boy Scouts (yes your daughter can be in Boy Scouts-check out any Venturing Crew) have several programs that deal with firearms and teens. Proper instruction/safe handling of firearms should be the first thing that is taught and learned-then on to hunting! Both of these programs have trained instructors that invariably will also have a wealth of hunting experience too that could easily tapped into. Once you know a few trained gunowners/instructors most of the time the hunting world just opens up with a few questions.
I've got a son and daughter that went through both programs. Not only did I learn also(I've been hunting since the early 60's) but the friends and acquaintenances that were made have been lifelong so far.
If you're gonna be up in Boilermaker territory give me hollar.
