I've read a lot about the importance of sitting in your stand all day - especially during the rut. Seems many hunters (myself included) make a habit of hunting the first & last few hours of the day but leave their stands to eat lunch and miss some prime hunting hours. This leads me to ask: for those of you who took nice bucks this year, what time of the day did you shoot them?

Took my 8 point at ~7:40 November 8. Hadn't been on stand more than 5 minutes either!! I had planned on staying all day though. Who knows if I would have seen anything bigger....

125-ish 8 pointer, November 9th, 4:00 p.m. Sat plenty through the middle of the day this bow season and saw a bigger 140" 8 pointer. That's the only buck worth mentioning during the middle of the day though.

I shot my buck at 11:30 am. I think it was the 3rd or 4th weekend of archery. I didn't get in my stand till 9:00 because of the full moon. It was a nice 10 point that might score around 130.

I killed my buck this year at 10:00 on the first Sunday.
I did sit all day long on opening day and saw a total of 56 deer. The only period of time I did not see a deer was between the hours of 2-3:00.
Between 12:00 and 1:00 I saw a total of 5 different bucks.
The largest deer that I saw that day were in the last 2 hours of light.
I have seen big deer at all hours of the day .....

I killed my state park buck buck at 12:45 this year and my girlfriend killed her buck this year at 12:50. In the past I have killed and seen a lot of deer during the times a lot of hunters are not in the woods.
