You can't do farm work, you can do auto mechanic work and hunt deer..? If your shoulder is that bad that you can't help a farmer, how can you hunt or wrench on vehicles?

I HAVENT GAINED STRENGHT BACK YET TO LIFT MUCH MORE THAN TEN POUNDS .DUE TO MUSCLE AND BONE REMOVAL BUT I HAVE MOST MOBILITY.DOESNT TAKE TWO HANDS TO TURN A WRENCH OR RUN A AIR IMPACT. AS FOR HUNTING ITS MY RIGHT SHOULDER AND IM A LEFTY. SORRY I SEEMED TO HIT A SORE SPOT HERE. THIS SEEMED LIKE A NICE SITE AND I WAS ONLY LOOKING FOR SOME ADVICE.ALSO I HAVE EMPLOYEES THAT WORK FOR ME AND IF I CANT PERFORM THE MECHANICS FOR SOME REASON I WOULD PAY THEM TO DO THE WORK.HOWEVER MY GUYS DONT DO FARM WORK AS I WOULD .TAKES TO HANDS FOR MOST HEAVY LIFTING

I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING AND APOLOGIZE FOR UPSETTING ANYONE. THE ONE SPOT I DO HAVE I PUT IN OVER 80 HOURS WORK IN TO GET AND FEEL IT WAS WORTH IT.I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR A FREE SPOT I AM WILLING TO DO ANY WORK NECESSARY FOR A SPOT. UNFORTANATLY FOR ME IT WOULD HAVE TO BE IN THE LINES OF REPAIRS ON FARMERS EQUIPMENT BECAUSE OF MY INJURY ONCE AGAIN I APOLOGIZE FOR ANYTHING IF I WAS OUT OF LINE AND WILL NOT ASK AGAIN STILL HOPE TO MEET SOME FRIENDS ON HERE THOUGH AND MAYBE LEARN FROM SOME OF THE OLD TIMERS

You can look up public hunting areas statewide on DNR's site. I've never hunted around Kokomo, can't say what's around or what is not crowded.

Southpaw - welcome to the site, and not all on here are... well, you know...
Anyway, closest public ground would be north on 31 and east of Peru... Francis Slocum SF, and around Mississenewa Reservoir... there are property maps for these on the DNR site (will see if I still have the links) and you can get aerials on the IU GIS system. I've only hunted up there a couple of times... not many folks during bow, but gun season there were a lot of guys trooping around...
Way to welcome the new guy, folks... thought I was on IndianaSportsman for a minute...

Not real far from Kokomo but not sure how far you waqnt to drive.

Misississinewa and Salamonie both have public ground around the lakes. Like Kirk said the bow season can be decent and so can muzzleloader. They don't allow doe harvest during gun season though.
Good luck.

I agree....absolutely no reason to jump on a guy and make ASSUMPTIONS about his intentions or current physical abilities. Totally disrespectful. southpawshooter - I can't offer you any help because I'm not familiar with anything up your way, but I hope you stick around this site. A lot of great guys here, but just like any other place, not everyone tries to be helpful. Good luck to you this season.

I hunted Miss. for doves several seasons ago and recall seeing lots of promising deer sign. The gentleman I hunted with lived somewhere in that area and said there were some nice deer in there as well.

Never hunted much in gun but used to tear em up during muzzleloader. We always hunted area 6 which is right across the road from the Tippecanoe State Park. It would be worth the drive to check it out, visit the check station and they supply maps.
