The point I am attempting to make is be carefull accepting legal advice through the internet unless you know for certain the person typing the message is a rule maker, enforcement official, or a very reliable source with a good track record of passing on accurate info. So far I have not seen any post meet that requirement and I don't care enough to take it any further then this web site. I have a stamp. I could care less if you can or can't use a code to hunt with but I sure would not take my chances on such a simple requirement with just this info...
So let's hear about your phone call Greg. It's a thing called "trust but verify".

It's a thing called "trust but verify". I Called district 9 DNR Law Enforcement Office.... the person that answered the phone said..."Yes if you order a Federal stamp on line and get a number to use that will work"....they went on to say they would ask the Lieutenant if I wanted to hold......the Lieutenant was asked and the same answer was received!!!! that was the end of my investigation for the day..... Ask them if they knew about it before all this was posted on the internet in the last week.
