I went squirrel hunting this week and seems like i am a magnet for these things . I used deep woods off and wore long pants and tried to avoid sitting in the woods on rotted logs and such. What do you guys do to keep ticks off you? If you get them on you what's the best way to catch them and kill them before the embed in your skin and itch like crazy.. I know once they embed then your only choice is finger nail polish or liquid band-aid to smother them and kill them.. I know you fellow hunters have to be experiencing this from time to time... Please chime in on this..

hey jfaulkenburg, i believe your talking about chiggers.. , if so , before i go out i wipe my legs and hips down with 91% alcohol(first-aid antiseptic),this keeps them from digging in, then when i return home after cleaning squirrels i take a shower and dry off, then reapply, if i do get a red bite ,i use fingernail polish to smother them. there are other ways ,some folks might have a better method, but you ask!, i thought i put my two cents in , on ticks i spray my hunting clothes with permadone or 100% deet look on the can, this is not for your skin, i repeat .this is not for bare skin!!! hope this helps ya...... ........those animals are mean!!!!just ask raporter he"ll tell you all about the insect world!!!!.... ;D ;D.......if you are talking about turkey ticks ,i have no experience ,ask RAPORTER. HE GOT A REMEDY......good luck...turkey scout

Nah, worse than chiggers - SEED TICKS..
Pound for pound the meanest animal that EVER walked, crawled or flew on the planet Earth. Bar none...
Spray clothes down with Permanone or Duranon (Walamart name).
Regular insect repellent on the body.

another reason to love hunting in warm weather. Back to the thread: anyone try dog flea collars around the ankles? Few friends swear by them.
