I was headed over to Illinois yesterday to put the trail camera back up. I was traveling down Highway 62 just a little past the USI campus when I noticed something dead beside the road. As I passed it I saw a Black (melanistic) raccoon.
I went on over to Illinois and stopped on my way back for a close up look at it. It was a beautiful Black (melanistic) raccoon. Fur looked in good shape for this time of year. Damage was light. He probably had been laying there for a couple days and had an odor about him. If he had been a fresh kill I would have thrown him in the back of the truck and took him to my taxidermist.
A coon hunter stopped right after I did. He said in 20 yeas of coon hunting he had never seen a Black (melanistic) raccoon. Anyone on here ever seen one?
I did take 3 pictures of him with my cell phone. Now to figure out how to get them off my cell phone and onto the PC.

I've seen alot actually. Get a handful a year it seams. Their fur is worth less than a regular coon. Now albinos, Ive only caught one.

Email them from your cell, then save the pic and photobucket it. You just change your phone to type letters and input your email addy snd send like a regular text message.

I don't have a text package set up on my phone. I stopped by the AT&T store and picked up a $20 data cable. Plugged it in just like my digital camera and trasferred the pictures.. Here he is....

Never seen one of those. We do have a squirrel with a snow white tail running around the yard.
