Decoying them in...
Do you or don't you and would you want to?

I finally decided to try using one a couple weeks ago(actually a 3-d target) after years of wanting to try it.After the first few days of bow season I couldn't get the deer close to me for a shot, they would stay up at the other end of the field.I figured a decoy might bring them in close enogh for a shot, and boy did it work.About an hour before dark a group of 7 does came out and I made a few doe bleats to get their attention and in about 5 minutes they were at about 25 yards from me.I made sure to spray the decoy real good with scent-a-way and put down some regular doe pee. They were not spooked at all.I picked the best shot I had and let it fly,a good double lung shot and a 40 yd recovery of a 125 lb doe,and I finally got to break my new Switchback in.I'm thinking about trying it on bucks now.

I have several Renzo decoys and do they ever get the job done. I don't use them every time I hunt, but probably 50% of the time I do. If there are deer in the area, the decoys tend to pull them in. It is not a guarantee, but they do work. It is fun to watch how the deer react to the decoys too. The other day I had a buck and feeder doe out and had a little 5 pointer work a scrape not 10 yards from the decoys. Then he went out and started feeding right along the decoys like they were his long lost friends.
The decoys definitely hold a deer's attention and let you get away with all kinds of movement on the stand. This definitely helps if you have to maneuver into an weird position to take a shot.

I already have plenty of gear to pack in to the woods & I want my hands free in case of a unexpected shot entering or leaving my hunting areas.

Renzo decoys work very well!! Easy to pack, easy to setup and fun to watch wildlife react to them!

There is a good article about them in the recent issue of "Indiana Fish & Game". Yes there was....and a quite impressive buck went along with that story. I thought that hunters theory was very interesting about wanting as many doe as possible on his land. Did you read the part where he said he has 30+ deer grazing in his food plots? That brings up an interesting question..... Are decoys more effective in high deer density areas?....or would they be more effective in lower density areas?

I've seen them for less than $25 locally. There is also an inflatable 3D deer decoy for less than $30 bucks, but I don't recall the brand. I tried decoys for the first time last year and my results were mixed at best. I haven't tried them yet this year but I will this weekend.
