I have serious reservations about an waterfowl organization that does not see the benefits of promoting the hunting & trapping of fur bearing animals as it relates to waterfowl reproduction.

I just took the kids to it. The Demotte DU guys and a few of the NW. Indiana Delta Waterfowl guys did it with the Lasalle DNR.

I have serious reservations about an waterfowl organization that does not see the benefits of promoting the hunting & trapping of fur bearing animals as it relates to waterfowl reproduction. Bottom line there are several organizations out there that support waterfowl. One serious issue surrounding waterfowl production is the available habitat. DU has done a decent job at preserving and adding to the available habitat. That has been DU's stance since it's inception. You might not agree with them on how available habitat ranks in importance with duck production but they have a well established practice and consistent stance on it. Delta likewise has a well established history of producing waterfowl biologist and publicly support the management of predators to increase production on the existing habitat. Both are very benificial and help duck production. I guess you have to ask what came first the mallard egg or the skunk that ate the mallard egg? All orgs have strong points they promote. We can stand back and cast stones at the weaknesses or congradulate those who are out there doing something about it and getting kids involved as well. Sorry I got off the topic DD

Yep. DU & DW both are fighting for the same thing, but they go about it on slightly different levels. DU has and does awesome things, and they have done an incredible job of marketing their brand and gaining membership. The only problem that I have with DU is their lack of supporting hunter rights.... when it comes to that, they stay out of the fight. I'd like to see them flex their muscles and stand up for hunters the way DW does, but as far as ducks go..... DU does an outstanding job.
