Chucker:
I have picked up a few boxes of steel #7s in 12 and 20 ga. Prices varied from $7.99 to $8.99 per box (Feds, Rem and Winchesters).
Unfortunately, non-tox shot for my preferred dove gun (28 ga) is very limited commercially.....so far the cheapest I have found is $25.99 per box for bismuth. OUCH.

paul, where are you seeing these shells? I should start looking for 12ga shells if I see any 28ga I'll let you know. PS I live in Evansville

I have been picking them up at a couple of places. Have purchased them at the Rural King in Princeton, Vincennes and Jasper over the past months ($8.99). I assume the one in Evansville would have them too.
Also been picking them up at the Great Outdoors in Jasper.
If for some reason you can't find them at a decent price let me know. I can pick up what you need and meet you in Evansville as I am down there about 2-3 times weekly with work.

Jack:
Thanks for the link. While it looks like it is a non-tox load, when I called them it is a lead load. I also called Rio as I use a lot of their small gauge shells when practicing and they indicate they do not make anything smaller than 20 ga in steel/non-tox.
Currently, the only company which I have found offering a commercial 28 gauge product is Bis-Maxx, though Federal, Winchester and Remington all have told me that with the upswing in states going non-tox they are likely to follow in the next year or two.
The Bis-Maxx are selling for $25.99 per box of 10 at the moment so I will probably go ahead and get a couple of recipes and load my own 28s for the season.
The good news is that the I went ahead and ordered 2 cases from Natchez as that is a good price on 28! Thanks!
