So I had a microdiscectomy Thursday morning and didn't start my recovery off to well. Thursday night our power went out and I had a flashlight in my hand walking down our stairs. You will not believe what happened next. I fell down our stairs 12 hours after having back surgery! I was scared I had reinherniated my disc but I probably did not. Anyways I thought I would share this story so you all could get a laugh at my expense. I don't think I have ever fallen down our stairs and at all times to do it.

Dang 10Point. Take care of yourself. It's only funny in an ironic type of humor!

MAn I feel your pain. I fight back pain daily and I am doing everything I can to avoid going under the knife. I guess there will come a day when I have no choice. I had 8 really ggod weeks in a row with little or no problems and now I am down again. I fished with my son last night and could only go for about 3 hours and he had to drive me home. I have broken a dozen different bones in my body but when you have back trouble it's really bad. You just can't get away from the pain. Your a lucky man if you took that fall without serious problems afterwards. I wish you well!

gundude,
take it from someone who's had 3 back surgeries and working on #4, get your family doctor to send you to a pain management clinic. it took almost a year of visits with my pain management doctor before he finally gave me some relieve from 16 years of constant leg pain due to my back. He didn't totally stop the pain but calmed it down enough to get me off narcotic pain medicine. h.h.

Well I don't/wont take pills for it. I did install a Jacuzzi tub and I am in the process of buying one of those tables that massages your back.... I go to the Chiropractor today and he has been a tremendous help really. To much abuse from sports and other activities over the years have taken it's toll. My wife couldn't understand how debilitating back pain is until she had a little bout with it over a minor fall. NOW she says she understands.... We will see!lol.... I wouldn't wish back problems on ANYONE..... A sore knee ,wrist ,foot.. you can deal with that.....But when your back is out, YOU are out..... It's not good.
I feel for 10 point THANK GOD he somehow made that tumble and was able to stand up.

I am happy to report that after my surgery in June I am basically pain free and ready to go for the hunting season. It took about a month for me to heal up. I was worried at first that I was going to be worse off after the first few weeks.

My wife has three bulging discs that keep her in constant pain, microdiscectomy sounds like it may be what she needs.

I'm glad it worked out! I got two discs that are herniated, but for some reason the doc thinks that in my case surgery won't help at this time.
