i have a couple small food plots out and need to buy some bag fertilizer. i'm getting a head-ache trying to figure it out on the net i have a plot of corn and a plot of soybeans. what would be a good choice that comes in a bag [example 13-13-13 ] for each of these two ? i'm sure someone has already researched and knows . thanks !

The first number is the nitrogen content. Corn is a high nitrogen consumer so get an analysis with a high first number. Soybean are a legume and actually produce nitrogen so they need a very low first number. The three numbers mean the pounds of the actual chemical per hundred lbs. The first number is nitrogen, the second is phosphate, the third is potash. Hope this helps.

Right now I'm using 12-12-12 cause its the most for the price I want to pay for food plots. The best price I found for 12-12-12 is $12.99 for 40 lbs. at Rural King. Fertilizer is suppose to go down in price this summer due to falling crude prices. Apply 300 lb. to the acre for best results. h.h.

I buy mine at the Fertilizer plant right next to our grain elevator in town..It's very cheap to buy like that. I pull the truck under a hopper chute deal and they dump it in by the truck load for around 100.00 bucks, give or take..Don;t buy the bagged stuff it costs way too much..Go to your local AG fertilizer plant the farmers use to order their fertilizer and herbicides for farming...

Rose Acres here sales composted chicken poop. looks just like fert. pellets. and its a lot cheaper.
