Last summer I purchased 20 acres next door that had a junky house, yard and the balance bare crop field.
Thus far I have removed the house, stripped out the driveway, removed the well, septic, cleaned up all of the junk, etc. and got it all turned back into open ground.
Yesterday we planted about 4000 trees to create wind break rows and barriers around the perimeters, etc. A mix of pines, cedars, shrubs and hardwoods.
About 11.5 acres will be put into four rectangular plots of tall grass prairied, and the balance will be mowed food plot strips of clover alfalfa mix. Should have everything planted within the next 30 days or so, then just be patient and watch things grow.
Will make some awesome habitat and hunting in a few years, and best of all Uncle Sam is paying me to do it via various CRP type programs.

I've thought about the WRP or whatever it's called because it lowers your taxes or something. But I also don't want to tie my hands with something that I can't get out of or stop in a short time. I also want to be able to build on this land.
