Here's the deal, a buddies dad has an employee whose father died. He had shot a bear and skinned it in hopes of making it a bear rug. after he passed away his daughter asked my friends dad if he would want it. It's been in a freezer for about a year. I assume it was shot last spring.
do you think the skin would still be good?
How much does it cost to have a bear rug made?
thanks

It would definately be good after only a year in the freezer....... not sure on price for a rug.

ditto to what was said about it being good for tanning. Might be a little dry on the ear tips, but shouldbe fine. Where ever you take it, just be sure the felt and backing are sewn, not hot-melt glued. We get $145/linear ft. on a nose-tail measurement after rugging.

I agree with Hoosiertaxidermist on the sewing the felt over the hot glue. It will definately last longer and look better. I get $190.00 per linear foot And that also includes 2 colors of felt and padding. and the skin should be fine in the freezer for many years if it is wrapped well and the ears are protected.
