I'm starting to realize that about the only times I'm going to have left to hunt will be when I get off work in the afternoons and only if it's raining. Anybody got any words of wisdom other than make sure I've got a good rain suit on?? How much good does calling do in the afternoon? Plus- so far I haven't found a locator call that works back in our woods-I think there are already too many owls, coyotes, crows etc for them to work.

Hunt open fields, if you have access to them. You might be able to pull one to the edge. Unless your very lucky, you probably won't kill one in the woods. At least this has been my experience. When its raining, turkeys hit the ground and head to open fields. They don't like the noise of wind and rain. They know that it is easier for predators to sneak up on them. Your best bet is to glass them at the edges of fields that you have access to and then sneak within shooting range. Good Luck and be careful!

Raining in the afternoon on a open field is one of the best times to go

I've killed several in the afternons/evenings including one this past Sunday evening. Turkeys tend to go to open areas during rain as well. If you had a blind that would help to get out of the elements
