I Just returned from the State of Nebraska Better School of Turkey Hunting. A (good friend and hunter)and I traveled to the State of Nebraska for the opener of turkey season. This is the first time I have ever been out of this state to hunt and it was his first time ever turkey hunting. We hunted on private ground and we had a ball.Opening day we awoke to thunder and pouring down rain.We had scouted the area for 2 days and set up a Double Bull blind the day before opener,THANK GOD because it rained all day. On that day my friend shot a triple bearded 22lb.Merriam. (What a bird for your first bird.) All total we took 3 birds 1 Eastern and 2 Merriam's 20lbs,22lbs,and22lbs.We worked an area that had approx. 35 to 40 birds. These birds probably have never seen a human being, but they were wise.We never saw another hunter or even heard a man made sound the whole time we hunted. The nearest home was approx. 2 miles away. As far as our season goes here in INDIANA,well it's like fishing in the Boundary Waters, when you get home you have no desire to fish in this state. At least for awhile. Heres a tip:When staying In a motel and it's pouring down rain, pluck you turkey in the bathtub.
