With bona-fide breeding behavior going on for weeks by the time the season opens, are the hottest hunting days over? Is the Season opener just about right? Too early? What do you guys think?

It's winding down for sure, especially down in the southern part of the state, but it does give them time to get the breeding done without hunting pressure. A split season with the southern half of the state opening a week earlier than the northern half wouldn't be a bad thing IMO.

Yesterday I saw a big tom strutting in the field and there were 5 other jakes/toms following a lone hen around. Maybe we should have a spring bow turkey season open 2nd week of March. The season is probably fine where it's at. I wish we had enough birds to extend it though.

Agree with you Varmint, we need the season where its at for along time, till we can get a good population, STATE wide. Sure I head to Tenn and there season starts March 28 but you see turks around every corner it seems. Here in east central, Indiana its open for turkeys but there really none around, I would hope by the time my new son is up and ready to hunt, I hope the spots I deer hunt will have turkeys running through them.
