Text for the Day -- Isaiah 43:8-11 ---------- Bring forth the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears! Let all the nations gather together, and let the peoples assemble. Who among them declared this, and foretold to us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to justify them, and let them hear and say, "It is true." You are my witnesses, says the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.
Devotional ---------- These verses open with a declaration that Israel is capable of conversion. Out of their disobedience and judgment they will be called to be God's witnesses to the only true God, the Creator and Savior of the world. This is the hope for all humans. All people are capable of conversion, discovering the true God who alone can save. Some people are offended at such an affirmation of God. Yet, this is what the Scriptures declare and this is the testimony of those who have experienced God's salvation.
Prayer ------------- Encourage me in my vocation to witness to you, O Lord. Amen
