i have a remington 12 gauge 11-87 special purpose 3'' chamber it has been acting up and not wanting to eject the shells from the chamber.i have cleaned it and replaced the rubber o-ring but i think the problem lies in the reciever. i cannot eject a shell [unfired] from the chamber sometimes. the last shell in the magazine [next in line to be fired] is not coming back far enough after you push it in[load it]. if i push it in a couple times it will finally retract far enough to release the chamber lock and eject. hope i explained this correctly. anyone ever have this problem ? i'm assuming some catch is worn in the reciever.it's had alot of rounds put through it,many of them 3'' know any good gunsmiths around spencer /surrounding counties ? i went to DAVES gun shop in holland but he doesn'nt work on them any more. i guess i could send just the reciever off somewhere. is that legal through the mail ? thanks for any help ! i need to get this fixed before turkey season opens.

You should be able to send the entire gun through a common carrier (i.e.- UPS or FedEx) to an FFL holder. And ONLY to an FFL! Private individual to a non-FFL, don't do it unless you want to get some mandatory vacation time sponsered by the Feds. Unless you hold an FFL, USPS is a no-go. But if you had an FFL you would probably already know that. I don't know how the reciever would be treated for sure, but it would probably be like the entire gun. The only difference I could see with just the reciever would possibly be the need for it to go overnight like a pistol. But I doubt it.... Best bet is to call the FFL you are shipping to and see how they want it done. I had some issues with my Mossy 500 a few years back that were similar in the "next round" problems like you're having. My gun is completely different than yours though so I won't bother with what it took to fix mine. But, like yours, mine's had a LOT of ammo run through it!

I'm pretty sure you can't mail guns thru UPS. You have to use USPS or FedEx. When we mail guns from the Sportsman's Lodge, we have to use USPS (FFL to FFL). It's all so confusing! ;d

FFL to FFL can use USPS- it's usually cheaper for an FFL to do it through the USPS. You CAN ship via UPS and FedEX, but it's something of a major hassle to do it as an individual.
Best bet, if you need to ship it out, is to find an FFL (Gunbroker has a listing) that doesn't charge much and take it to them and let them worry about it. Depending on the type of gun it can be cheaper to pay an FFL transfer fee and have them ship it out than it would be if you did it yourself anyway...
I don't have the time to find it right now, but Gunbroker has a firearm shipping guide that you might take a look at (if you can find it.....).

Oh, the point I was trying to make, but forgot, in that first sentence is a private individual CAN NOT ship via USPS. Loaded ammo is another no-no through the mail too.
