What is your experience with deer urine?
Its a gimmick plain and simple!
It works I swear by it...
It can work...I try at least a bottle a year
I would rather buy gumoflauge or the Cough Silencer ...

I have nothing other than personal observation & kills to swear by it. I have killed a number of nice bucks that followed the urine scent trail I laid down to my set-up. I have literally punched their lights out with their nose on the scent bomb wick.

I have seen does turn inside out to get away from a bomb made from Tinks 69 and wouldn't waste my money on it ever again. The only scent I have found that works well enough to buy are the scent stick that look like incense. Kolpin used to mkae a buck lure that I killed several bucks over. They don't make it any more.

I have had some luck with some brands, and no luck with others.I think it all depends on timing and if the bucks already have enough does to satisfy them or not ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) .Tinks is one I've never had any luck with ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) .

As far as I know, I've never had a "bad" reaction to any urine based scent and have had lots of positives. I'll say this as well. I've had the least success with Tink's 69. I have wondered if it is because it seems to be the #1 selling scent at any Wally-mart I've been in. Maybe it is just getting over used in some areas? ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

My observations have been that it's a pretty good curiosity lure at best , but I still buy a bottle every year just to get them to stop for one that moment . Hey ! I have a Cough Silencer and that thing works pretty good ! That's my story and I'm sticking to it ... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Don't mean to plug a certain brand and doubt you other guys that have not had success with it , but Tinks 69 is my # 1 purchase every season ! I use it every season and One season in particular , I had a buck run from a scrape to my stand with his head down hard on my boot tracks across a plowed field after I had given the scrape a few drops of Tinks 69 and a couple of drops on my boots . He came in so hard he overshot my tracks and I passed an arrow thru him at 35 yards while he was bloodhounding the ground trying to pick up the trail ... I'm a believer !! Wouldn't be without it during the rut .... but maybe any doe urine works during ther rut ?? .... Tinks 69 has fooled many bucks here in Ontario ! I know many guys that swear by it .... deertracks wrote :I have nothing other than personal observation & kills to swear by it. I didnt answer to any of the given suggestions because I have a ...... well differant theory of the urine thing. Now follow me here... Each and every food source gives a differant smell after eating. Just ask my wife after I ate at Taco Bell. hehehe Even water grade will give differant smells that a human can notice. If I were a deer, I think I would recognize the differances. If a person was to drink the water in Mexico and then Alaska, I think even a human could tell the differance. Besides the fact that most of the over the counter urines are filled with preservitives to make the last longer, I would trust the nose of a deer to be able to distiguish the smells. Not saying that a deer could be interested in an odd smell and follow it to its source to find out what it is, but I think that these deer can and will revert back to an experiance(s) if ever given notice of the hunter. I may be off the wall with this in some eyes, but thats how I feel about it.

No I don't think you are idhmc,I've often thought the same thing.I think if a deer has been tricked by a certain scent or call,or if one brand is used a lot in an area, the deer soon begin to relate it to hunters.

If not over used, and if it is the right time of the year, it will for sure bring a close buck closer, and stop a moving buck for a moment (maybe just the right moment to get a shot).
