I live right by a highway, and I have a fairly large field behind the house. While I haven't seen a deer in over a year ( might have something to do with the coyotes I see occasionally), the turkeys that reappear late every winter are back in full force. Today I observed, running across the field single file, 49 hens!
49! I have high hopes for the spring. Of course, the turkeys vanish a couple of weeks before the season, and I hunt miles away anyway. Go figure!
