Any jackleg can sneak within range of a longbeard with a .243. Far too many are bushwhacked with a shotgun, let alone a rifle. If you want to rifle hunt turkeys, go out west where its legal.

I'm strongly in favor of rifles for deer.
On the other hand, I'm not in favor of them for turkeys. To me, turkey hunting is all about the calling. The fun of it is getting them in close. And even if rifles were legal, I would still hunt them the same way.
As for "bushwacking", I guess that means a guy shoots a turkey like we shoot deer? You see turkeys, you move to intercept them and you shoot one? I have no problem with that if that's how a guy wants to hunt. It doesn't seem like it would be as much fun as calling one in.

Same thing with a deer, getting them close, I hate going to Tennessee and hearing my wifes cousins say that shot a deer at 300 + yards, Not I said me, when i go I take my slug gun, to each his own, I guess
