You are doing a Good Thing with your commensts.. A couple of things re other answers you have made... RE: "Dogs"... no wanton shooting, but, like cats(?) if you don't see a collar you can consider it feral? RE: "Posted"... I like your method... Evidence in Hand is a heck of a lot more prosecutable than "oh I didn't see the posting..." Finally: Weird/Bizzare/Totally theoretical not-quite nonsensical Question... I have deer that frequent my back yard... whether I have squirrel-food out or not. One Buck in particular is particularly habituated. Now, given that I live outside of City Limits... Is it/would it be "legal" to take a Habituated Urban Deer with a Sword? (I have been, quite literally, within both practical and training "range" of a deer... where In My Experience I would be quite within my experience/practice to be able to lop off a head with my katana after calling the habituated deer in... Not that I would, but, assuming I could,... from a "legal" perspective.... what say the DNR? ;D)

Sword ? Let me see here ......................................................nope....................................................................................................................................................................................................................not here ....................................................how about here, nope................................................................not there either ...............................can't find it anywhere here in the statute.................................WAIT A MINUTE!!!! I found it!! Indiana Administrative Code 312 IAC 9-3-2, subsection 99 (z), clearly states: The lopping off of the head of a 'called in' habituated deer with a katana is strictly prohibited.* Sorry dude! In regard to the dog comment, I use the term 'feral' loosely, meaning that they are running at large and not under immediate control of their owners, be it cats or dogs. A collar may or may not be a good indicator of a feral animal. If I had a dollar every time someone told me that they didn't see the POSTED signs or "I talked to the farmer several years ago and he said it was OK", I would be able to retire early!! * 312 IAC 9-3-2, subsection 99(z) does not exist and is merely for entertainment purposes only, however the taking of a deer with anything other than archery equipment or legal firearm is prohibited
