The changes govern the sale of parts of wild turkeys and the hunting of wild turkeys. One proposed rule change will allow individuals, including licensed taxidermists, to sell the heads, feet and skin of wild turkeys. The proposed changes also will open the spring wild turkey season statewide by allowing hunting in Henry county. The changes also prohibit the possession of a dog, domesticated animal, live decoy, recorded call, electronically powered or controlled decoy or bait while hunting wild turkeys. The current rule only prohibits the use of them while hunting. Additional changes clarify license requirements and clarify that the tag placed on a wild turkey taken by a hunter must include the name, address and license number of the person who killed the turkey. The changes also clarify that the person who takes the wild turkey to a check station must give the check station operator the name of the person who actually took (killed) the turkey, since the person who killed the turkey does not have to be the one that takes it to the check station.
