I don't mind when places use the word "holiday," as long as specific mention to Christmas is not avoided. I really don't even care if Hanukkah or other holidays are mentioned, but again, I do care if specific use of these terms is avoided because some organization thinks people might be offended.

Greyhound- My workplace does that exact thing and I cannot stand it. We aren't supposed to say Merry Christmas. There are allowed to be no Christmas trees or any decorations in any of our branches. All to appease the ones they think will be offended. It drives me crazy.

Very Interesting. I substitute taught today at school. They were practicing for the Holiday program tomorrow night. Not once was the word christmas mentioned in any of the play, or the songs they sang. UGH

Not once was the word christmas mentioned in any of the play, or the songs they sang. UGH When I was in grade school, back in the '50's; our class had a Christmas Tree, exchanged gifts, and had a Christmas Party as well as a Christmas Play. My, how times changed....FOR THE WORSE!

Well, my mom who teaches 4th grade still has a Christmas tree and a Christmas party. At least I think so. I know she got the tree out not long ago. They still exchange gifts too if I'm not mistaken.

My only compliant would be that they disallow anyone to use the word Christmas. Really who cares if someone says happy holidays to me. What if they are Jewish? Am I supposed to say merry Christmas, are they? To disallow the word or my right to celebrate the holiday is an entirely different animal.
