Well guys, the deer gods smiled on us this evening in a cold, snow swept cornfield in Indiana. My daughter was losing faith in her Dad.I could tell by the words of doubt creeping into our conversations.I convinced her to go this evening despite the cold temps.I now walk on water again! I had our ground blind positioned down wind of a well known entrance into the field.Along towards last legal shooting light she looked at me with pleading eyes for it to be over. She needed not to say a word.I whispered to her if she thought she could hold out just a few more minutes as the witching hour was fast upon us.She smiled and said she could.I would have packed right up if she wanted to go then.No sooner than I had asked her,3 deer appear before us like ghosts at 35 yards.A very big doe, small doe and a fork horn buck. Her eyes widened in amazement and I had to prod her back to the moment at hand. She later said she could not believe how they snuck up on us! .She lined up on the big doe and then started shaking! She calmed down somewhat and put a 250 grn XTP through both lungs. She ran approx 30 yds and piled up in sight. She immediatley turned to me and said Daddy that was so exciting! She is hooked!Dad swung on the small doe and punched a BO through both lungs. It could not have been any sweeter than to share so completely in that moment in time with her!She is still grinning from ear to ear!I was very proud of her as this was her first!

What a great story!!
Sharing something that you love with someone that you love is the best.
Tell her CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done.
She learned patience on that trip.
Congratulations to dad too..

Woody,You got that right about the patience thing! ;D She also learned that it is called hunting and not killing as well!I bought her a Sav.10 ml back in the spring and she dutifully shot it all summer. She was ready to poke a hole in something! ;D She keeps everything under 1.5 in @100 yds.She was so much easier to teach how to shoot than her brother.(Male thing ;D)She took to it like a duck to water.

The young lady is an excellent shot. Good teaching, eh? Woody, You can only teach so much, ultimately the shooter has to do their part. Her brother put visions of dis-located shoulders in her haed.i believe he was worried about losing hunting time with his Dad.She was very worried when we started shooting.I put a Limb-Saver pad on it for her and bought a PAST recoil pad and raised the comb height.Once she realized she was not going to die from recoil, she took right off with the shooting.
