I've been hunting the same place in Dearborn county the last 5 years. This year is the first year that I've seen more bucks than does (about 5 to 1). The bucks I've seen have all been young with small racks, mostly forkhorns. We have a really nice 8 point (130ish) and 9 point thats about the same. Other than those and a decent 10 point I saw early in bow season, all baby bucks and very few does. Last year it was pretty much the opposite on does. I've been holding out for a decent buck, but I think I'm gonna do the "if it's brown, it's down" this weekend. I need some meat in the freezer, dangit! ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

Not quite that severe for me but the buck to doe ratio is way up for me as well and last year was just the opposite. On the other hand I have missed 2 does this season.

Sat AM I had 5 bucks and 1 doe come by in the first two hours. The first buck was a decent 6 pointer and all of the rest were small "forkies" except for the genetic brainfart (four on one side and 1 on the other side) that I took out of the gene pool. So just from that short observation I would have to agree with you.

This past Summer; I saw several Doe, on my place. However, like you guys, I've seen more Bucks this season than Doe. We had a HUGE acorn crop this year and I think the Doe are in the woods more, and only come out into a field at night.

It's kind of funny though.... we've had a doe around for the past 3 years that's missing half of her left ear (been like that since she was a fawn). I've seen her a dozen times this year and she counts for the majority of my doe sightings.

The hunting has been similar in my area also, I have been seeing two bucks for every doe. Normally I see at least 1:1 or more typically 2 or 3 does to every buck sighting. The bucks have been mostly 1.5 yos as well with a few 2.5s and about the same number of 3.5s. It has been about the same way on my trail cam photos most of the year. I've also noticed from sightings and trail cam photos that there seems to be few yearling does this year. I wonder if it is a result of the EHD outbreak last year.

A lack of seeing does is one of the best indicaters of the rut being in full swing . The does are all coming in season and are now seeking out and staying with the best buck they can find , I think in a couple of days you will start seeing more mature does, and as the breeding curve goes down probably a few more nicer bucks moving also.

Thats a good question. I have not seen more then 4 does since last Saturday. Seen a 6 point tonight about an hour before dark. He appeared to be cruising. I have seen more bucks then does his year. Usually see a lot of does. Deer sightings overall are way down for me so far.

I almost put up a similar thread a few days ago. I hunt right next to you in Franklin County and aside from my first bow hunt (Oct 3) when I saw 12 does and no bucks, I bet I saw at least 4 or maybe 5 bucks for every doe the rest of my hunts. Very unusual indeed. It was pretty exciting though, seeing all those bucks. I saw 10 different bucks in one day and only saw 1 doe that day. That was a personal record for me.

They are right with the rut being in the breeding mode the does won`t move more than 50 yards from where they will breed, so buck and doe activity will be minimal for a few days. Let nature do its thing and you will see em again.

Fri Morn - 5 diff bucks/5 does and still chasing. So 50% for me, but who knows really. A couple weekends ago I say 14 does and 0 bucks. You only need the one hot doe.

With bucks or hiding from bucks, do a couple drives of thick stuff you can't hardly walk thru and you will find em. Or hunt till the end and old long noses that are starving will suddenly pop up from everywhere.
