I have read how important to the world it is to save trees in the rain forest etc. due to the impact on the enviroment ! Well it never really sunk in ..... until the tree in question turns out to be one of your favorite tree stand trees that has produced many opportunities on nice bucks over the years ! ;D ;D I've been relegated to just light walking and scouting lately .... to my surprise I found this the other day ![>:(](https://www.indianagunowners.com/images/smilies/woot.gif) ![](http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/RJpentax/2005beavertree.jpg) With some well placed pressure treated splints , some 1 x 1 weld wire , and paint .... it should survive the season .... but will die by next year for sure ...... hope the patch , last's the season ! ![](http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b245/RJpentax/beavertree2.jpg) I think the only thing that has held the tree up during the last few wind storms before the wood splint repair , is the 20 ft steel spine ladder bolted and chained to the backside of the tree ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The things we do to put meat on the table ! ;D ;D ;D

Ooohhh Man!!
Not sure I would trust that one in much of a wind.
Yes, it will surely be dead by next season.
I need to get a picture of a tree that was close to a tree that I have hunted out of in the past.
It was hit by lightning and fairly well exploded.
Pieces fo the tree were 30 yards away.
It made a l beleiver out of me that any time in the future that I am in a treestand and I hear thunder I am OUT OF THERE.
If it can do that much damage to a tree, just think what it could do to human flesh.

I posted this somewhere else already, but two weeks ago I was in the stand when a terrible storm starting brewing right above me. The lighting was bad and got so close that I could "feel" the next strike coming! It was very close to me so I jumped from the stand! It immediately struck about 50 yards away. As soon as I heard the thunder, I began climbing down but I couldn't go fast enough. Always better safe than sorry!!
