Jack, I think I have the same collar as you...mine is from Lion Country but made by Innotek....I use it for location only. Trouble is, when my pup hears it, she comes all the way back to me.
I've heard good reports on the Dogtra beeper collar. Also, Sportdog has their 1850. I think I'd go with the Dogtra.

I'm a big fan of Dogta. You won't go wrong with TriTronics either.....the others, well I quit dealing them because of so many call backs...
Let me know if you're buying new, I can save you a few bucks!!!

Iv'e had a bad expeirence with inoteck, I purchased a training coller from them and within a year it was busted. The battery wouldn't charge, they wanted $80 for a repair and I told them the thing cost me $120 why would I want to pay 80 bucks for something that I already paid for and should work? They would not work with me because I didn't have a reciept, if you buy inoteck save your reciept.

I imagine it's the same with all brands. You're going to get a lemon from time to time. I've owned Innotek, Tri-tronics and DT's. All have served me well. My current Innotek is 5 years old and has never given me a problem. Next time I may even try one of the Dogtra collars.

I've owned tri-tronics since the mid '70's. They have served me well. A couple of websites directed at the professional and amateur field dog trainer ran polls regarding the various ecollars. Tri-tronics was rated the best in field and service. Sadlly Indiana based Innotek got lots of flack on the quality of their units and service required.

I have had an innotek for three years. As long as you charge it before you go and keep decent batteries in the transmitter it works great. I have no problems with it at all.
As far as beeper. I didn't want to spend the extra money for one but needed to keep up with my dog. Cabela's sells a cow bell that goes on the collar. $6.95 and you can hear it 1/2 mile away. I am on the second one. The first lasted about a year.
