Being mainly a field an small river hunter I have never shot a diver, seen a few odd balls killed hear and there but I've never been the one. I finally broke the streak Sunday. Hunted a small public area and shot a hen ringneck. Topped off with a good retrieve by my dog. It was the only shot we had and didn't see many other waterfowl period but not bad for a non-scouted first time hunting the spot outing! We have a better idea where to go next time!
Once I find my card reader, I'll post a pic of it...

About time! Congrats. With any luck when you come up here the divers will be down and you can shoot them 'til your hearts content.

Congrats on the ringer. This thread is USELESS without PICS! lol! Good job on the retrieve too, tops it off and makes it even more special. Again, congrats.

Hope the geese are what I am shooting at with my hearts content, but if nothing else a good duck shoot would be good too. Let me know what to bring up there a few days ahead of time. I'll drive separate from the family so I can bring field dekes and blinds if needed. I need to find my robo duck too...

The way the weather is, the birds have disappeared. There is another cold front coming in Fri or Sat so with any luck it will bring in more birds. Bring your gun for deer also. We may get board with shooting birds and want something bigger!

I don't think I would ever try to take a bird away from that dog if he didn't want me to.

He's only eaten 3 of the neighbor kids and that was because they tried to take his bumper! Just kidding, he is a great dog and I'd recommend a big old stinky-ugly brown dog to anyone.

I honestly don't remember, I have his papers and that stuff somewhere. The lady had bred chessies for 20+ years out of Anderson and this was her last litter based on what she was telling me over 3 years ago. I feel like I got a good one!

Glad to hear you got a good one. I was asking because he closely resembles one of mine, and one of his pups...the first pic is of one of Oz's pups, the second pic is of Oz and was taken just before dinner time.
