How many days / year do you schedule "off from work" for deer hunting?

12-15 actual "work week days". I normally take the last two weeks of Archery and a few scattered days during Firearms.

Don't schedule anything except last week of Archery and if I get ot go out West in September. I do take scattered days off through out the season mainly in archery season. After those guns start banging might as well work ! LOL

I had a good job when I worked and could do flex time.
I would usually take off the last hour of the day to go hunting in the evening. Once I used up 8 hours I turned in a vacation card.
After the tine change I would go in an hour early and still take of that last hour.
I also took off a week or two during the rut.
I hunt a lot , even when I worked..
I kept a record one year and I put in 242 hours IN THE STAND.That is not counting driving to and fro and scouting..

I nornally take the day off before gun season to travel down South.
Additionally, I normally take a week off to bowhunt and that is usually in PA. Will be going last week of October this year. Other than that I don't get out much besides Saturday mornings and before Church sometimes on Sundays.

I occasionally take a day off to extend the opening weekend , and sometimes a week day or two if the action looks good .

Kevin,
What are you talking about?
I am getting advertisements for deer movement GPS systems, hunting gear, deer hunting magazines and mortgage companies.

Howdy.. I am retarded... I MEAN RETIRED!!! I can hunt ANY and EVERY DAY and I try to do just that. Being an outdoor writer, I tell people that I am NOT really having fun when I compete in 80-90 bass tournaments a season and going deer hunting all the time... I tell them I am "GOING TO WORK!!! That is partially correct because I take quite a few photos while I am hunting and fishing and then I use them in my articles and I also come up with ideas for more articles when I am fishing and hunting. I would rather stay home and paint the house and mow the yard but NOOOOO... I have to go to work... What is the old saying... "IT'S A TOUGH JOB BUT SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT!!!!" I don't think any of you fellas are feeling sorry for me are ya? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) If it is raining or something when I get up, I have the advantage of turning back over in bed and going later but before I retired, I had to use every minute of hunting time I could get and make that work... I am very thanjful for the advantage I have now. It just took a LONG TIME to get here..

This is the first year I've had time I could take off, not counting a few classes I skipped in college to go hunting of course. I will be using a combination of comp. time and personal leave to take the entire last week of early archery and the first two week days of firearms season off.

I used to take 12-15 vacation days during the entire deer season. Then I had to get a REAL job ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I still sneak in a day or two, but most of my hunting is done on weekends. My son is out of school next Thursday & Friday....so I have arranged next Friday (10-21) off. Our original plan was to hunt Friday, Saturday and be home on Sunday for the wifes birthday. Now it looks like it's gonna be Friday only....... My son has a football playoff game on Saturday....and it's still a birthday on Sunday. Man.....what a guy has to do to be able to HUNT!!!!!!

I took 10 days this spring in Alaska, taking 6 days off to go to Wyoming starting Monday, and plan on taking a couple days off towards the tail end of bow hunting.
In addition to that, I hunt hard every weekend, holidays, and usually at least a couple evengs per week, even if it's only for an hour or so. I am fortunate that I only work 10 minutes from home and can be in a good tree stand as close as 300 yards from the house.
Also manage to squeeze in some family vacation time here and there each year.
Life is short. If hunting is your passion, you better get out and do it now, because none of us knows what tomorrow will bring.

I have been incredibly busy lately and have no time to even think about hunting! I am busting my hump to try and stay in the woods during as much of the last week of this month as possible. I will be in the woods more during gun season too. I also love the late season, by then I should have the most time. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
