I picked up a like new used Full Camo Remington 11-87 SPS-T today for a great price. Even though I bought it for turkey hunting, I am thinking of throwing a patternmaster choke in it and using it as my duck/goose gun this year.
Anyone else use a fairly short barrel with 3 or 3 1/2" loads?
This gun is the "heavier" duty 11-87 but with only a 23" barrel. I figure it would be tougher and handier in a tight blind then buying another 11-87 in the sportsman configuration with the 26" or 28" barrel.

I shot mine for two seasons. I used Brileys- LM & IM x2s. I never had a problem EXCEPT when you unload that gun make sure you jack the shells out with a little authority or it will jam (3-1/2"ers only)! It is my backup gun as I now shoot a SBE 2. It is a quick handling gun! I have a PM nonported tube, but have yet to use it.

Remington doesn't list a replacement barrel for the Supermag (3-1/2" chamber) and won't sell you one unless you send the gun in. I know as I've called them and this was the answer I was given. I did think you can buy the deer bbl, though. Thank an Attorney!

Barrel isnt a problem. I like the 23" barrel, handles and feels great.
Just was looking for someone else that uses a shorter barrel.
