I hate being outsmarted by a bird with a brain the size of a pencil eraser. The geese have been taking US to school this week. We've still managed to shoot 19 the last couple of days including another band for captain Kevin . Another five. To close? 93 so far.

Congrats on the band...... and that's an interesting way of breasting out a goose in that last photo! Thanks for sharing your pics!

Maybe Chris if you could get a goose that close you could be Foiles like!!!!!!Actually that goose looks like it fell from a ways up.

That goose was shot at about 12 feet straight up with an improved cylinder. Whoever you are let's not start any s**t with other people this early in the season. Kevin

Improved cylinder????Four yards is close enough to do the job.I was just stating my limited experience on seeing a breast like that.I did not mean to ruffle your feathers!!!!!Do you shoot IC all season? ?What size shot do you use? ??How well does it hold a pattern at 30 yards(90 ft) ??Just curious. If it works that well I will put away the pattern master!!!!sorry and good luck.

I shoot steel 4s up to BB through improved cylinder alot in the right situation. Birds in the decoys don't require tight tubes.

I use an IC all season for duck and geese. It is a Briley aftermarket tube, but I have personally found the IC to be the best all around choke! I shoot 3" 2's for ducks (and geese sometimes), but mostly 3" BB's or 3 1/2" BB's for geese. Now if I was up close in the timber hunting, I would probably use a cylinder choke tube and shoot 4's.

I use a modified. 3" BB's for geese and ducks by convenience . If I know I am going for ducks only I'll step down to 2's for longer range or really close it will be 4's.
On a very rare occasion I will but the full choke in. But that's just cause dad has this one place that gets a ton of geese late season and the only way to do it is with a long shot. Of course with a full you either get a bird... or you don't.
Bottom line is to pattern your gun and see what you can do with a given shell at a given range.
