This spring when I took my lab to the Vet for her checkup the Vet tested my dog for Lyme's disease and she tested positive. The Vet put my dog on a anti-biotic for 25 days. The Vet advised that from now on my dog will always test positive for this disease. The Vet said that one of the symptoms that I might notice is the dog will develop sore joints like arthritis. And she has . Now my dog is a house dog as well as a good retriever and friend and we take very good care of this animal so I was shocked to find this out. My dog was the third dog this year that tested positive 2 of the 3 were hunting labs. We use flea and tick collars as well as the liquid you apply to their skin and she still got the disease. HAVE YOUR DOG CHECKED .

A guy many of us knew via the internet was very active in the WRP in the Seymour area contracted Lymes disease. First diagnosis was Lou Gerhig's disease...scary stuff. Last I heard Terry was still fighting and that was probably 2 years ago. Maybe he will see this and drop us a line. Sorry to hear your dog was diagnosed with it too, it is a good subject to cover with all outdoor activities. Prevention is the easiest way, once you get it, it can kill you.

I too know Terry and yes it would be good to see him post on here again. I do not know what more I could have done to protect my dog from this.We examine her often to to find ticks and remove them but we never had any idea she was infected till we were told and now we are seeing the signs.
