A big city attorney took his son on a 4 day guided wilderness adventure in the state of Alaska.The outfitter issued them a bear survival kit which consisted of several small silver bells that were to be pinned on their cloths and packs and a container of pepper spray.
During their trip the guide showed the lawyer and his son how to identify different animal droppings by examining them closely and smelling them. On the third day they came across some bear scat that the guide said was left by a black bear.The lawyers son asked the guide how he could tell.the guide pointed out small blackberry seeds and if you sniffed it you could smell blackberries.
the guide told the father and son that at this time of the year the black bears were foraging heavily on blackberries.
The attorney not believing the guides assessment of the black bear scat thought he would test the guide and asked him if he could identify grizzle bear scat if he was to see some.
The guide without hesitation responded thats easy.
The lawyer asked how can you tell.
