About 5:30 this evening the wife yelled at me to "COME LOOK AT THIS!" I came into the breakfast nook where she was looking out the window and she asked me "whats that out there on the tree line between the shed and the truck? Hmmmmm................looks like antlers. That must be the basket racked 8 pt 2½ yr old I saw several times last year, but was too small to shoot. He's much bigger this year. This is 300 yds. out, it was raining, and I don't have the best equipment, so it's hard to tell from this pic, but he's a perfect eight well out past his ears and I'm guessing him at close to 140. He stood in this spot for almost an hour eating the beans while I watched him through the spotting scope and I bet he didn't move more than two feet during that whole time. I don't like to shoot deer out of my back yard, but this would sure make a nice first buck for my grandson Jake.
