Mike Pence, My district representative in the House, will address the delegates tomorrow evening at the Republican convention. He earned this honor by garnering respect in the party for his hard work and adherence to conservative principles. He always answers my e-mails personally, is a true conservative and he's one of our best friends in Washington. He'll be addressing national security issues. Try to catch his speech if you can.

Unfortunately, due to a reshuffling of the speaking schedule because of Hurricane Gustav, Mike Pence's speech tonight has been cancelled. What a shame.

Things like this? advanceindiana.blogspot.com/2007/06/burton-pence-vote-for-pay-raise.htmlU.S. Rep. Mike Pence (R) and U.S. Rep. Dan Burton (R) aren't satisfied with their current salary of $162,100 so they voted against blocking an automatic $3,100 pay raise from taking effect, boosting their annual congressional salary to $165,200. Darn. I've heard good things about him.

That is not that much of a pay increase. By the way, how many pay raises have you refused?

Unless you were wealthy when you got elected that is not much money to maintain two residences and the constant travel required to do the job. Now if I could have an income like that living here in Southern Indiana I would think I was RICH!

the travel is paid for my you and me, the tax payers I realize the cost of living is higher in DC, my brother is a graduate student at Georgetown. Most folks in DC don't see those type of pay raises. The record illustrates that many voted against the raise, not Mike Pence or Dan Burton though. Unless you were wealthy when you got elected that is not much money to maintain two residences and the constant travel required to do the job. How about the fact that after Pelosi adjourned the summer session of the House for a five week long vacation (after refusing to allow a hearing on Americas energy woes ) Rep. Pence led a coalition of Reps. who stayed on the floor to hold their own talks for several days in protest over the fact that the Dem. controlled house cares not one whit about the American peoples problems and intends to do nothing about it? Their position was that the House had no business going on vacation without first attending to the peoples business. If you're a liberal though, I suppose you wouldn't much care for anything he's done.
