Well we had several places to hunt for the opener, we had many things to have to consider like getting back home at a decent time for family for Labor Day and also I needed to get back and help finish the DVD to send out for replication, so I was limited on how far we could go, so we opted not to go up with Kevin Smith of River City Outfitters (he ended up with a great shoot ), and my field here was just too inconsistent, so we decided to go with team member Tim Powell to a spot he had been scouting. He had scouted a sand bar on the river that was holding about 100 geese, so that's where we went for the opener! Unfortunately the birds decided not to cooperate for the day, and when we finally did get a flight of 25-30, it was about 10:30-11:00 and we were deciding to pack it up and they caught us with our pants down (so to say! ) So that was the extent of our hunt, go some footage of the birds dropping in and flaring off out of range! ;D We had a nice morning regardless and nice to finally get back out for sure!! So here are some photos of our day.....
Our setup on the sand bar (I'm across the water setup in some downed brush)
The hunters...
team member Jake Huff and his girlfriend Megan
Jake Huff and his dad Dave
Sponsorship Director Daniel Rowe
Team member Tim Powell
Travis Peters (I really think he liked the decoys too much!!! ;D )
The whole group
The only thing we killed for the day was time! Everyone had to throw and skip rocks in the off time!
Boating out for the day!
