A friend called my today and said that two people that dont know one another told him that Indiana was gonna sell the Lifetime Hunting License again. He went on to say that both parties were quoting them at $1185 I have had one for years, just wondering if its true that they are coming back.

First that I have neard about it , but I doubt it very seriously. The DNR has talked about a "sportsman's license" that would be like a lifetime license only on a yearly renewable basis.

I'll believe it when I see it. It won't happen, in other words.
The DNR looses money with every LL purchased. After 15 years, the licenses do NOT count for the Pittman-Robinson (if that's the right name???) federal dollars.
They were a good deal when they were here, but they won't be back. EVER. I do, however, hope the DNR will offer a similiar comprehensive yearly "sportsmans" license.....

I would like to see the lifetime license brought back. I was not hunting when they did away with it but I sure would jump on it if they brought it back.

I would bet that they don't either.
Back when I got mine 23 years ago, it paid itself off (if you hunted everything) in like 5 years.

Back when I got mine 23 years ago, it paid itself off (if you hunted everything) in like 5 years. I paid $525.00 for mine, it took me about 2.5 years to pay for it in regards to all the license and tags I would have had to buy for the game I hunted and killed during that time.

I emailed them about it and this is what they wrote back to me:
The Indiana General Assembly (state legislature) creates the hunting, fishing and trapping license types in state law (Indiana Code), and the DNR is supportive of changes to these laws governing hunting licenses to provide a Sportsman's Bundle that includes a wild turkey license, deer firearm license, small game hunting license and game bird habitat stamp at a discounted rate.
Additionally, state law (Indiana Code) does not allow the DNR to sell lifetime licenses. The Indiana General Assembly (state legislature) would have to change the law to allow them to be sold. You can contact one of your state legislators if you would like this law changed.
I also asked about a single buck tag for all seasons and she said she had to forward that one to the deer biologist and he has never wrote me back.

I got my LTL at 21 when I graduated college. Have been hunting every weapon, every season ever since. I will turn 28 tommorow. Best $550 my parents ever spent on me! I hope they come back. They are a steal even at $1200 or the like for most young or middle age serious hunters. The DNR looses money with every LL purchased. After 15 years, the licenses do NOT count for the Pittman-Robinson (if that's the right name???) federal dollars. They were a good deal when they were here, but they won't be back. EVER.
